Water and Sanitation Promotion
Pamoja Afya Initiative water program addresses the water crisis and equip communities surrounding national parks and wildlife reserves with lasting access to clean water and sanitation services to avoid the risk of sharing water sources with wild animals or being eaten while drawing water. This is done through drilling and rehabilitation of boreholes, digging swallow wells and protecting springs, construction rain water harvesting tanks, water jars, water filters and toilets.
Access to safe water reduce the time spent walking in search of safe and pure water among boys and girls and utilize this time in revising their books which leads to increased academic performance, lead to improved hygiene conditions which is critical to preventing diseases
Wildlife conservation and Climate change Adaptation program
Uganda being the Pearl of Africa and well known for its incredible wildlife and biodiversity which ranges from majestic gorillas and tree-climbing lions to graceful elephants and playful chimpanzees, is a priceless treasure that requires our utmost care and protection. Pamoja Afya Initiative’s conservation and climate change adaptation programs therefore aims at protecting national parks and areas that serve as habitats for wildlife so as to enhance conservation of wildlife, promote sustainable tourism and safeguarding Uganda’s natural heritage for future generations.
The program therefore implements community development projects that provide alternative Livelihoods and ecosystem conservation from poaching and charcoal burning and environmental education among local communities surrounding national parks with the aim of empowering them become custodians of their environment
